Solution-Focused Hypnotherapy is a modern evidence-backed treatment that incorporates talk therapy and hypnosis. It is a gentle yet powerful way to help people make positive changes in their lives. What many people like about this type of therapy is that you don’t need to look back at past experiences in order to move forward. Instead, you’ll be supported to focus on how you want things to be different, and how you can take steps in that direction.
Solution-Focused Hypnotherapy is a complementary therapy and is not a replacement for medical treatment.
It is used to treat a wide variety of issues, including anxiety, low mood, burnout, stress , insomnia, performance blocks, peri-menopause and menopause symptoms, IBS, phobias, confidence and self-esteem issues, and many more. Please get in touch if you’re not sure and we can talk about whether it’s an appropriate treatment for you.

Hypnosis, also known as trance, is a state of focused awareness that feels like being deeply relaxed. In this state, your mind is receptive and open to suggestions.
For the trance part of the session, I will guide you through a hypnotic story designed to help you relax and turn your attention inwards. All you have to do is listen and let your mind drift wherever it wants to go.
From the outside, hypnosis looks like you’re having a rest or a lovely nap, either in a chair or on the couch – whichever you prefer. You can close your eyes or softly gaze at one point in the room. You’re always in control and can choose to end the hypnosis session at any time.

Your hypnotherapy sessions will generally follow the same structure each time.
We’ll spend the first few minutes talking about what’s been good in your week to activate the positive, problem-solving, creative part of your mind so you’re ready for the rest of the session. This also acts as practice for your brain to start becoming more aware of the positive things in your life.
We’ll then look at the neuroscience behind feelings and behaviours so you can understand your patterns and responses. This is followed by some guided goal setting, where you’ll identify a small step to feeling better and making change.
The second half of the session is the hypnosis part. I’ll guide you through a hypnotic story while you listen and drift to the sound of my voice.
Phobia sessions start the same way with a reflection of what’s been good in your week. I’ll then guide you through some NLP techniques to remove the emotional response and replace it with the response you would prefer to have.
For stopping smoking and smoking vaping, the treatment takes place in one session. We will explore your smoking or vaping habit, your motivation for giving up and how your brain can work with you to support your desire to quit. You will then have 30-35 minutes of hypnosis to programme your subconscious with your new identity as a non-smoker or non-vaper.

Many people notice changes within a couple of sessions, but the length of treatment depends on the issue you have. For anxiety and depression-related issues, noticeable shifts can happen after 4-6 sessions, but some people need many more.
Much of the change happens subtly between sessions as the creative, motivated, problem-solving part of your mind becomes more active.
After your consultation, I’ll send you a relaxation mp3 to listen to between sessions, preferably at bedtime. Listening to this regularly and using other small tasks that I suggest can make a big difference to the effectiveness of your treatment.
